JF & SON and Travis Boyer's MFT are pleased to present "Another Masterpiece!!," a capsule collection designed in collaboration with artist Amy Yao.
It will launch with an event on September 8 at the JF Storefront at 56 University Place in Greenwich Village, from 6 to 9 PM. A performance by Amy Yao, including a "runway" presentation with an Asian slant, will go off at 8 PM.
"Another Masterpiece!!" combines Amy Yao's striking and colorful visual motifs with JF & SON's innovative production and design and will be available for sale as a collection of clothing and accessories including dresses, skirts, shorts, bodysuits, leggings and t-shirts. Yao's work embraces identities and rituals -- hair, sequins and ornaments are displaced from the body onto utilitarian objects, like umbrellas and curtains. "Another Masterpiece!!" addresses these themes as well as the presentation of imagery, a topic continually examined by the artist, incorporating common and personal signifiers of glamour, sex, identity and the body as related to the realm of fashion. Elegant silhouettes are combined with unexpected, over-the-top colors and materials, and subversive prints bananas and sausages add to the sense of playfulness and wit.
Additional “Another Masterpiece!!” collateral souvenir items include a bag and invitation card created by Amy Yao with designer Geoff Han; collaborative photographs by David Benjamin Sherry, Michele Abeles and Lisa Jo featuring an ikebana artwork by Carissa Rodriguez; and a zine.
