Happy Anniversary

It all started 8 years ago

with six simple but well made pieces executed in cotton canvas twill. A jacket, a skirt, some tops and a bag made up the very first collection entitled ‘Seams’, a study about the seamed edge .

After a hiatus, Slow and Steady Wins the Race relaunched full speed ahead in 2007. Best described as “a logical dissection of fashion”, SSWTR asks: What do we wear, why do we wear it, and how can we create new classics that are timely and timeless, unique yet universal? The label is an investigation into the basic elements of what we wear, and a considered response to the social and anthropological ways of fashion.

The mission of the label remains the same, to continuously push and produce interesting and significant pieces from the simplest fabrics and materials with a focus on the fundamental characteristics of clothing design. Each collection is perennial, refusing to bow to standardized timelines. The main philosophy behind the label breaks the rule that fashion has to constantly change. Structured as a living archive, the work is seasonless and proves that good design is both an intellectual and emotional response that is ageless and cross-cultural. Fans range from age 16 to 60, encompass all ethnicities and backgrounds all of whom remain incredibly loyal.

Slow and Steady Wins the Race would like to say thanks for your enthusiasm and loyalty. Please stay tuned for more to come...
